Venue: Juridicum

The Juridicum is located within a short walking distance of the Main Building of the University of Vienna and houses the Faculty of Law. More than 10,000 students are enrolled here, making it the largest law school in the German-speaking countries. Owing to its unconventional design and challenging location – a stand-alone block wrapped in reflecting glass and placed amid the historic surroundings of the city centre – the realisation of the Juridicum was long in coming. While the first plans were made as early as the 1960s, the building was not opened until 1984.

The ten-storey building houses the Dean’s Office and many service points for students, in addition to six of the Faculty’s twelve departments (the others are at another location nearby), basement lecture halls, a library and a cafeteria. The top floor offers a 360-degree panoramic view of Vienna, from the historic buildings in the city centre to the green spaces beyond the city.

The Juridicum is located within a pedestrian zone and is easily reached by public transport.
